Ik las in The Chameleon Poet van John Ba...Dag Tom,

Ik las in The Chameleon Poet van John Bauldie het volgende nav een zin uit Tarantula (blz 98):

'a lifetime of goons & holes, company pigs & beggars & cancer critics...all being tossed in the river & combined in a stolen mirror.'

...the destructive critics and finally the image of the 'stolen mirror' of Dylan's art; 'stolen' because Dylan own symbol for himself as poet is 'thief'.
Prometheus stole fire from heaven, the embodiment of aspiration towards the realms beyond the reach of mortals. Arthur Rimbaud and the symbolists were self-proclaimed Prometheans: 'Le poète est vraiment voleur de feu'('The poet is truly the thief of fire') wrote Rimbaud.
'Yes I am a thief of thoughts not, I pray, a stealer of souls' wrote Dylan in his poetic manifesto, the eighth Outlined Epitaph.

Tja...daar heb ik weinig aan toe te voegen.

Hartelijke groet,
John
John Spoorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08658039510367514539noreply@blogger.com
